In the third paragraph, you have written
kallikkenna mullil vaeli poadi thangachchi
kaatrukkaedhu thoattakkaaran idhudhaan en katchi

This is actually
kallikkenna mullil vaeli poadi thangachchi
kaatukkaedhu thoattakkaaran idhudhaan en katchi

i.e. it is “Kaatukkaedhu” Thoattakaaran
translated to – why do u need a gardener for a forest ? (meaning it is useless)
Not why do u need a gardener for the wind.

I tried my best to translate the song into English. The more I tried, the more I felt it was impossible for me translate what the great poet has described in beautiful words.

So, instead of posting my amateur translation in the post, I am putting it here in the comments itself.

This song comes in the movie at a place where the girl (sole earning member of the house) throws his brother out of the house as he is a wastrel and drunkard. At this point, the brother sings this song. I hope this translation helps to some extent for people who don’t know tamil. Also, this is not a word by word translation, but I have tried to capture the meaning!

“As long as I have the streets which is the home created by God for me,
What do I care for this city or for a separate home, O! wise girl!
Do you understand the purpose of life or the story behind your birth?

Did my parents beget me with my permission?
Or was my son born after seeking my consent?
